Framework Solutions Ltd delivers courses in adult education and training throughout the country. They can customise and deliver these qualifications to organisations wanting to use them for professional development of staff. They also run public courses throughout the year at different locations. These courses are designed to increase your skill, knowledge, and confidence in such areas as

Customised courses are tailored to meet client needs and can be delivered in a variety of formats including week-long blocks with several months of practical work between and assessment by portfolio; or in two day blocks with several weeks practical work between and assessment by portfolio.

The courses are activity based and practically oriented and are run by a our experienced facilitators.

National Certificate in Adult Education and Training(NCAET) level 4
National Certificate in Adult Education and Training level 5
Assessment of Learning Use standards to assess candidate performance, unit standard 4098

Study Options

The NCAET level 4 has about 75 hours of instruction
The NCAET level 5 has about 120 hours of instruction
You can expect to spend three or four times as long again practising, gaining experience and collecting material for your assignments.
4098 is run as a two day course plus assignment work to complete.

Entry requirements

NCAET Level 4 [Ref: 0378] - There are no prerequisites to entry. However international candidates for whom English is a second language must have a minimum overall band of 6.0 on the IELTS academic module. All candidates must have a high standard of literacy in both spoken and written English as well as a minimum level of education that would qualify one for tertiary level study. This qualification may stand alone, or lead on to the National Certificate in Adult Education and Training (Level 5)[Ref: 0379].

LIFE Unlimited Charitable Trust is an organisation that offers services and products to empower people with disabilities to take charge of their own lives. An offshoot of the Trust, LIFE Unlimited Hearing Therapy Services is New Zealand's only training provider for the National Diploma in Hearing Therapy. The Diploma is a two year programme consisting of 10 weeks intensive initial training in Auckland and Hamilton, followed by a one month workplace practicum and approximately 20 months' on the job training.

Courses Offered

The National Diploma in Hearing Therapy is a two year programme consisting of 10 weeks intensive initial training in Auckland and Hamilton, followed by a one month workplace practicum and approximately 20 months' on the job training.

The initial intensive training will cover the basic knowledge and practice required to become a proficient hearing therapist. It is based on 16 Unit Standards which address the specialist areas of a hearing therapist's work, as well as generic areas related to working in the Human Services sector in New Zealand.

Following this students are involved in on-going learning and assessment 'on-the-job' (with support) over approximately 20 months. Once assessed as competent against all the Unit Standards, you will be awarded the National Diploma in Hearing Therapy, registered with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority in March 2003.

A two year course involving some fulltime study and on the job training

Enrolment occurs once a year. Next enrolment is likely to be September 2009

Entry requirements

  • Evidence of a tertiary qualification and experience in the human services field, education, or health-related professions, or
  • Evidence of a good level of education, with evidence and referees of relevant experience and recognised skills in working with the elderly, or with people with hearing impairment, or with people with other disabilities
  • A clinical situation (minimum of 20 hours per week) in which to practice hearing therapy (organised by the trainee, if a fee paying trainee)
  • Supervisors within the clinical situation, providing support and opportunities for practical application of theory knowledge, during the four week placement and the following approx 20 month period
  • Computer-literate
  • Access to computer / internet

Timaru Fishing School

Excellence in Seafood Training

Timaru Fishing School's primary purpose is to introduce the basics of seafood processing and deck-hand skills to trainees before they enter the workforce. Its courses cover the skills needed to meet industry requirements and to ensure safe working practices while at sea.

The training programmes offered at the school's modern and purpose-built facilities are relevant for employment on modern, large, deep-sea trawlers, smaller inshore trawlers, land-based processing factories and seafood retail outlets.

The programmes are all held in Timaru, usually running from January to December. Most programmes run for about 20-30 weeks.
